As our series in the book of Nehemiah draws to a close we are left with a slightly bitter taste in the mouth. Nehemiah’s goal of rebuilding the city walls was a success. However, in no time at all, the once revived hearts of the people of God are turning back to their old ways!
What does true revival look like? That’s the question we will be seeking to answer as we look at what happens when the nation of Israel comes face to face with their own failings as revealed by the word of God.
In our next study on the book of Nehemiah we begin to see the real purpose of Nehemiah’s efforts; the rebuilding of the wall is just a small part of a greater purpose. Namely, the reformation of God’s people.
As the Nehemiah work force draws near to the completion of the wall, a few of their old adversaries try one last time to stop them from finishing, using a whole host of tactics to discourage them; tactics the devil still seeks to use against God’s people today.
